This image of the RAF Lyneham station
main entrance was taken in 1970 by the late Chief
Technician Bill Kidd a former airframe
fitter on the Comets who was employed on the station
in the late 1960 to 1970's. The image was kindly sent
in by Bill's son Ian who lived in the village during
his parents tour at the station. It is interesting
to see how the main entrance has changed more exposed
and no Comet gate guardian aircraft on the entrance
roundabout. The white building to the left is the Main
Guard Room and the large low level two storey building
in the background is the single accommodation for the
Warrant Officers and Sergeants' of the RAF.
