This picture taken in 1950, shows
the main gate to RAF Lyneham with an immaculate guard
of honour standing to attention with their arms at
general salute, awaiting the Air Officer Commanding
to get out of his staff car at the gates and sentry
post.
The guard room was situated to the left behind
the flag pole on the left. The guardroom was a single
storey cement block building, skim coated and painted
white. It had a canine section at the rear, with a
doorway opening into the guardroom.
