Britannia Commemorative Wall 2009

This picture taken 2nd May 2009, shows the commemorative plague located on the roundabout to the station main entrance depicting the Bristol Britannia Long rang transport aircraft that operated from RAF Lyneham from 19th March 1959 to 1st June 1970. It lists the aircraft tail numbers and aircraft names given to the separate airplanes.

The plague was presented by The Britannia Association on the 30th April 1994 to all those who contributed to the successful operation of the Britannia aircraft. The badges at the bottom are No 99 Squadron and No 511 Squadron who both operated the long range transport aircraft. The station badge is in the centre.
