Smiles as bright as the May sunshine
greeted the Queen when she visited RAF Lyneham on the
17th May 1990, to mark the 50th anniversary of the air
base.
Even the rain clouds stepped aside as hundreds of children
from the village junior and infant schools lined the
road waving flags and cheering.
The Queen arrived at the base in her private jet and
was greeted by her daughter, the Princess Royal, who
is the station's Honorary Air Commodore. Full story more... |
