Thickthorn Farm Buildings

Thickthorn Farm

Thickthorn Farm steeps in local history as part of the former Lyneham Manor. Located in the gradual sloping valley of Preston Vale it was part of the Walter Henage family consortium of farms in the late 1890's At that time it was occupied by Thomas Large and had 163 acres of land.

Today, Thickthorn Farm is actually separated into three areas today. No. 1 Thickthorn Farm is currently vacant and covers 89 acres. In the event that this farm is re-let it would be used for dairying purposes. No 3 Thickthorn Farm, Lyneham, extends to 37.3 hectares (92 acres) and has been occupied by the existing tenant since September 1985. The holding is designated as an arable holding and forms part of the Lyneham/Bushton Estate.
