The 55 Bus Service in 2003

As part of the local Stagecoach bus service this No 55 bus was introduced to impove accessibility for disabled passengers. Its low level floor certainly helped elderly passengers get to the local towns for shopping.

The 55 Chippenham route started at Swindon passed through Wootton Bassett, Lyneham, Calne and then onto Chippenham. In 2003 there were very frequent buses, in fact we had three serparate companies all running on the same route to capture the passengers.

Stagecoach, the national bus company still hold the route, running a daily service every 30mins in both directions. For more information on the current bus services and bus stops click here
