Vulcan leaves Lyneham for last time 2011

On March 29th 2011, the only remaining flying Vulcan, the last all-British designed and built military aircraft, flew out of RAF Lyneham for the last time.

Taxing past a C130 Hercules to runway 24, the iconic aircraft, was flown by Martin Withers DFC. The captain is reknown for flying the long distance Vulcan 'Black Buck' record breaking bombing raid leaves the Wiltshire airbase, earmarked to close by December 2012.

Picture here was taken at 12.20pm 29th March 2011 at RAF Lyneham, with thanks to Andy Humm.
