This photograph was taken around the
early 1940's of the terrace block of houses to the
left
of the Memorial Hall. How times have changed, the right
hand house is the current village florist 'Marcia
Collettes' the next house was converted as a
village general stores selling Lyon's tea, milk,
tobacco and confectionary. This
shop was known as Tellings Shop.
Extensive alterations were carried out to the terraced
building converting them to shops and the upper floor
on the right hand building was converted to allow larger
living accommodation. The windows were also enlarged
to allow more lighting. The upper window situated second
from left has remained the same size and is above the
Lyneham Tandoori in 2006.
Special thanks to Ray Cole for the copy of this photograph.
