Lyneham Memorial Hall

Lyneham Memorial Hall was built in 1920 and provided a meeting place for the Lyneham Lads. The hall, was used often and we recall that one half of the building had a three-quarter sized snooker table and the other end of the building had tables for the gents to play cards and drink.

There was limited lighting and it was restricted during the war making it difficult to enjoy their pastimes. Heating was provided by a coal fire at each end of the hall.

The building is now being used as a village library. Special thanks to Ray Cole for the copy of this picture postcard.
