Tockenham Court Farm is located on the
outskirts of the village (Ordinance Survey SU 033 776)
It is an established dairy farm with many historic features.
Tockenham Court Farm was a pivotal part in the agricultural
system of the old Lyneham estate, but now is in the
Tockenham parish and still highly productive.
Described as a very valuable sporting and agricultural
holding in the 1905 Lyneham Estate sale, this stone
built house of apparently 18th Century dating, incorporates
an 'L' shaped building of the late 16th or early 17th
Century. The only visible features of the older house
are its heavy chamfered ceiling beams which retain carved
stops of several different designs. The house then owned
by Sir William Button (d 1654-5) , was looted by Parliamentary
troops in 1643 and 1644.
Mr Samuel Freegard was recorded as renting the farm
buildings and lands in the Lyneham Estate 1905 Sales
