The Spice of Asia April 2006

The Spice of Asia one of latest restaurants provided for the local residents. Situated in the northern part of the village, the Spice of Asia opened on the 7th June 2005 in Chippenham Road, and is owned by Abdul Kahhar. The grand opening was attended by 80 guests. Among those invited to take part in the day was the Mayor of Swindon Ray Fisher, Wootton Bassett Mayor Chris Wannell and Chippenham Mayor John Scragg along with their partners.

The Indian restaurant has many historic facts, a part from a traditional village eating place, it was previously an Italian Restaurant, named La Botte. It was also a cafe called Britannia Cafe run by Bob Merritt.

Do you know any other village bygones, facts or hold images of the past, what the building was used for, who visited it, or do you you have a tale to tell with the life in Lyneham. If so please let us know so we can fill in the missing bygones of the village and share it with everyone else. Please contact the webmaster here.
