This rare picture of Britannia Cafe
on Chippenham Road Lyneham, next to the White Hart
Inn. Britannia Cafe was run by Mr Bob Merritt in 1965.
The building was a Bakery Cake Shop run by Mr Hathaway.
Prior to that, it was a cafe run by Swindon Town's
long serving goalkeeper Sam Burton. The legendary
goalkeeper who made 509 appearances between 1946 and
1961, Sam ran a transport Café in Lyneham before
moving to Gwent.
