Picture with thanks to Chief Technician Bill Kidd and Mr Ian Kidd

Lyneham North 1970

This aerial photo of the north of the village was taken from a Comet as it approached the RAF Lyneham airbase. It was taken in 1970 by the late Chief Technician Bill Kidd a former airframe fitter on the Comets who was employed on the station in the late 1960 to 1970's. The image was kindly sent in by Bill's son Ian who lived in the village during his parents tour at the station.

It is interesting to see the red coloured building roughly in the centre was the Methodist Church and the yellow coloured building to the right is Greenlands or John Pullen House. The garage in the foreground is edmonds garage with the newly built house to the right .
