This aerial photo of RAF Lyneham located
airfield on the plateau of the Swindon-Lyneham Limestone
ridge.
The airfield is approximately 150 metres above sea
level and the escarpment banks bordered by woodland
roll down
to the left into Avon Vale at a height of 80 metres
above sea level.
The runway which runs from the bottom
right corner of the image is geographically running
from south to north 180 degrees named the 18-36 runway.
