Webbs Court, Pound Close and Chippenham Road

This aerial picture taken October 2003 shows the housing estate of Webb's Court adjoined onto Pound Close and also Chippenham Road towards Bradenstoke. Grid reference at centre image - SU 021 792 GB Grid.

Webbs Court built surrounding the former telephone exchange which still stands visible behind the Mallard Public House. The modern properties were built in the 1990's to adjoin the council housing of Pound Close. The majority of the Pound Close houses were purchased from the council for private house holders. There are still some council residential homes available but the waiting list is fairly long.

Chippenham Road, named the B4069, was the major road link between Swindon and Chippenham before the M4 motorway was built in the early 1960's. This road is now unsuitable for HGV traffic as the weight and volume of traffic is causing extensive damage to the Dauntsey Banks road.
