A National Festival in the Heart of Wiltshire. Chippenham Folk Festival retains its 'village' atmosphere, providing three and a half days packed with song, dance, workshops and dance displays. An exciting programme packed for all ages, including colourful dance displays, busking, street theatre and processions along the Avon river. Many of the street pubs are crowded to bring the most popular highlights for the townfolk.

There is also a full program of childrens events, a large craft marquee, catering facilities and an open air arena in the park. The High Street and historic Market Square are both pedestrianised, and are used throughout the weekend for busking, street theatre and processions. A huge street fair also takes place on the Monday.

Eddie Cochran Rock 'n' Roll Festival

Eddie Cochran died tragically at the age of 21, following a car accident in Chippenham, in April 1960. To celebrate the life and music of this talented American singer, guitarist and songwriter, the Eddie Cochran Appreciation Society was formed in 1995.

The festival is always held in Chippenham on the nearest weekend to his birthday - 3rd October 1938. On the Sunday morning of the weekend fans meet at the site to celebrate his remarkable talent and the lasting influence of this music.

 

Chippenham Viking Weekend
A unique and unprecedented event for the area Chippenham Town Council and Management Partnership offered a Viking Weekend which included the infamous Ship Burning Ceremony, ferocious battles to echo the Viking heritage of Chippenham when Guthrun the Dane in 880AD invaded.
