A
Celebration of Village Life:
St Michael and
All Angel's Church will be marking the Harvest Festival Celebration
as a time to reflect on our village past. The village has
a very long history associated with Agriculture and Sporting
Activities.
A comprehensive display of Lyneham's history including Tithe
Maps, agriculture, bygones, photos, reminiscences, census
record facts and answers are available all to view.
During the presentation there will be a chance to see how
the village has change, especially since the development of
the RAF bas in the late 1930's and reflections by village
memoirs.
We are encouraging all villagers to bring along your old
photos of the parish, no matter how old or what condition
they are in, we would like to share these memories of how
the village used to be.
Join us in documenting Lyneham's past, there are so many
missing pieces to the gigantic puzzle - a history in the making.
Do you have the missing piece?
We have recently received an amazing document copy of the
Lyneham Estate Particulars, Plan and Condition of Sale, when
the 2,106 acre "extremely valuable" estate was put
up for sale by lots on Thursday 5th October 1905 at two o'clock
precisely. It is an awesome document of Lyneham's history,
available to see.
Can you help capture the history for us all to see.
