Lyneham News - Index - NOTICE OF VACANCY PARISH CLERK DAUNTSEY

ARE YOU INTERESTED ? Parish Clerk Vacancy - Dauntsey Parish Council

After 18 years Mary Pile has decided to retire and have a well earned rest. She will leave us in May after the Parish Elections and we need to find her replacement.

Are you interested ? Every Parish Council needs a Clerk, who is the Council's "Proper Officer", and the Clerk's role is to act as day to day manager of the Parish Council's affairs.

Dauntsey Parish Council meets six times a year in January, March, May, July, September and November, usually on the first Monday of the month, providing Bank Holidays don't get in the way, plus an Annual Open Meeting which we normally hold prior to the Annual Parish Council Meeting in May.

Some ad hoc Meetings are held depending on special circumstances and all the Meetings are held in the Lower School Hall in Dauntsey. This is a part time position involving approximately 2 to 4 hours work per week, plus Council Meetings.

The pay is 4 hours per week, home based, on a Pay Scale SPC15 - 21(£7.84 - £9.34) per hour, plus agreed expenses. There is a need for good IT skills and electronic communication has become an important part of the role, not only with Local Authority Partners, but with Council Members and increasingly more and more Parishioners. The Clerk also needs to be capable of accurate Minute taking, financial administration and have good literacy skills and be able to have access to transport.

There is no reason why the new Clerk cannot be the Clerk of another Council. If I have not put you off already and you are interested you can contact Mary Pile on 01249 890406 for a chat about the role and how she's coped with us for a very long time.

The Parish Council will be placing an advertisement in the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald in the next few weeks and the closing date for formal applications of interest will be Friday 16th February 2007.

Interviews will then be held later that month and, who knows, you could be coming along to our Parish Council Meeting on Monday 5th March to meet your new Employer and see us in action? If you are interested, and think you can do this important job, please don't wait until the last minute. You can let me know and send me your CV by Email, or post, as soon as you like. I look forward to hearing from you.
