The Trust provides 687 beds and a comprehensive range of acute services including medicine and surgery, services for women and children, accident and emergency services, and diagnostic and clinical support services.

Royal United Hospital is run by Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust. A new accident and emergency department has recently been built. The new department has expanded treatment areas for both minor and major emergency patients. There is also a new reception department and waiting area, along with improved facilities for treating children. Many wards and public areas have also been refurbished and redecorated. A new high-energy x-ray machine has been installed. The linear accelerator provides radiotherapy treatment for patients with cancer, and has helped to reduce waiting times. A new oncology and haematology day care facility has also opened. It allows more patients to receive treatment as outpatients, and was largely funded by Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.

How to find The Royal United Hospital (RUH). (Approx 19.5miles from Lyneham)
It is situated in a suburb called Weston village on the western side of Bath.

  • If you are approaching from the west, north or east, take Bath exit 18 from the M4 motorway.
  • After approximately 2-3 miles, you come to a roundabout where you turn right on to the A420.
  • Take the first turning left and after approx. 3 miles, at a T-junction on a nasty bend on a hill, turn left.
  • After approx. 1 mile, you will see Bath race course on your right. Just after a pub called the Blathwayte Arms on your right, take a little turning on the right signposted Weston.
  • This is a narrow road, down a steep hill.
  • At the bottom of the hill, turn left at a mini roundabout which takes you into Weston village.
  • Keep going on this road and you will see the RUH on your right.
