The residents of Lyneham are served by general
practitioners based in Wootton Bassett at either the Tinkers
Lane Practice or Borough Fields Practice. The National Health
Service has reshaped the out of hours services so patients
will have a more modern, high quality and consistent local
service. GPs have traditionally been responsible for 24-hour
care of their patients. Throughout Wiltshire, over recent
years, groups of doctors have formed local co-operatives to
provide this service outside normal surgery hours. Instead
of ringing the surgery for a doctor's consultation, a small
telephone call to a central control centre, where you will
be given advise and either direct you to an appoinment in
your local hospital. The information for the out of hours
service can be found in detail click here.
Armed Forces personnel and families from Royal Air Force
Lyneham are normally served by the Forces Medical staff on
base. Primarily, the station medical service is prioritised
towards providing medical cover for the operational flying,
however, they also cover for day-to-day routine medical advise
during working hours for families and dependants. Out of hours
cover is now being directed towards the NHS Direct Services.
The NHS Direct Self-help service
online, covers the most common symptoms which people call
NHS Direct about for advice. It is intended to be used by
residents of England. The Self-help guide doesn't cover all
symptoms. If the guide does not cover your symptoms, call
NHS Direct on 0845
4647 for advice. |
