Community - By-Election 2006
- The Conservative Candidate Sarah Still |
 |
Lyneham
Ward By-Election
23rd February 2006
covering the villages of Lyneham, Bradenstoke, Buston, Clyffe
Pypard and Tockenham
Sarah Still - The Conservative
Party
Welcome! For
those that don’t know me already, I would like to tell
you a little bit about myself.
I have lived in Tockenham for 8 years, and
was born and raised in Chippenham, so I know the North Wiltshire
area very well. I am the mother of a teenage daughter who
is educated locally, and am fully aware of the issues and
opportunities facing the local youth and young families.
As a member of Tockenham Parish Council, I have experience
already of local politics, and am a regular attendee at North
Wiltshire District Council meetings, and understand what is
involved there. I am a civilian worker at the base at RAF
Lyneham, and have daily contact with those in the forces,
and the problems that they and their families face. My husband
is a local business man, so I have first hand experience of
the issues facing small businesses. As a non-car driver, I
am a regular user of public transport and cycle a lot, so
I am well aware of the road conditions and the problems facing
those in a rural community where transport is inadequate.
|
|
I believe strongly in being part of the local
community in which we live, and participate in village activities
and the local church when I can. I am standing as a Conservative
candidate at this election as I believe the Conservative’s
track record in Local Government in Wiltshire is impressive.
I want to help introduce the same rational approach to delivering
local services to the people of North Wiltshire, and to continue
the good work started by Jim Elford, Allison Bucknell and
Toby Sturgis. Original signed, Sarah Still

My
Pledges To You… |
I will be working with my
Conservative colleagues at all levels to: |
 |
Introduce
improvements to public transport, particularly
for the more remote areas |
 |
Look at road safety issues
in Lyneham |
 |
Achieve improvements
in the quantity and quality of affordable
dwellings in the area |
 |
Build on the recycling
success already achieved by Wiltshire County
Council |
|
|
|
Keeping
Up the Good work.. |
Everything in politics seems
to take an age, but we have seen recent
improvements thanks to the hard work of
local Conservatives, including: |
 |
Tockenham
to get speed limits in January 2006 |
 |
New bus services between
Chippenham and Swindon to start shortly |
 |
More affordable dwelling
sites identified |
 |
Road resurfacing works
carried out in many villages and more to
come |
 |
Local village halls and
community groups benefiting from grants |
 |
Doorstep recycling available
to 98% of households, thanks to Wiltshire
County Council funding |

Message from
District Councillor Allison Bucknell:
It is unfortunate that my colleague Jim Elford has had to
resign after his election in August last year. It saddens
me to see others seeking to gain political mileage out of
somebody’s personal cirmcumstances – Jim was only
a councillor for a short while, but in that time he gave 100%
and has made quite a stir at the District Council. Jim will
be missed by many, and I wish him and his wife well. |

Message from your
local Conservative Councillors, Allison Bucknell and Toby
Sturgis:
“We are really pleased that Sarah
Still has asked to stand as our candidate at this election.
Sarah is very down to earth and has good knowledge of the
local area and local issues. At the last by-election you chose
a Conservative councillor, and we are pleased to offer you
another high calibre candidate this time round.”
