The South Porch is regarded as the main entrance to the church and is normally secured by wrought iron gates. Inside the porch either side of the entrance are two stone benches, and a church notice board.

Adjacent to the entrance, outside, is the large yew tree, possibly as old as the church building itself. Most churches have a yew tree in the church yard as a symbol of immortality. The yew's reputation for long life is due to the unique way in which the tree grows.
