This former church building is adjacent to the old NAAFI building about 100m
down Preston Lane. As result of a Strategic Defence Review in 2003 an announcement
was made to close the Royal Air Force base by December 2012. The Defence Review
resulted in reduced requirements for a Roman Catholic Church by the Air Force
and the building was decommisioned
in 2009 at the same time, the land and former Naafi building was sold at auction
for £140,000 in July 2009.
